A detailed trip report with data on all species seen or heard during several long walks that I made in and near the extensive "Reserva Nacional de Flora y Fauna Tariquia". 209 species were observed, of which 31 were not previously recorded in Tarija. Some of the birds encountered: Black-and-white Hawk-Eagle Spizastur melanoleucus, Red-faced Guan Penelope dabbenei, Alder Parrot Amazona tucumana (common), Rufous-throated Dipper Cinclus schulzi (common along mountain streams) and Short-tailed Finch Idiopsar brachyurus. Some of the observations in this trip report are covered in "Recent ornithological surveys in the Valles region, southern Bolivia - and the possible role of Valles for the evolution of the Andean avifauna", by Jon Fjeldså and Sjoerd Mayer, 1996.
